Company / Business / Position: Hadley Cycles / Bicycle Retail store / Managing Director
Background in Cycling? I had my first race May 14, 1976 at age 9, and haven’t stopped. I enjoy racing, riding in general, and assisting new riders to understand technique and bunch craft.
How did you get involved with Ride for Sick Kids? Hadley Cycles was approached to give consideration to sponsoring a ride by Ross Bingham, Phil Jobling and Tony Baj. This meeting was organised by Lincoln Amidy, a good mate and conduit to these guys. My brother and I liked the concept and the idea grew from there. We are all fortunate enough to be in a position where we can assist.
What keeps you coming back year after year? Knowing that we make a difference. We meet with families whose lives have been turned upside down and hear their stories first hand, how Ronald McDonald House kept them together as a family unit, helped to take a lot of the cost and stress out of a bad situation, by providing the families a home away from home! When the first Ride started 10 years ago, I had not had children at that point. I am now the father of two happy, healthy kids and the Ride has taken on another dimension.
Your Motto? Be happy, healthy, and enjoy what you do.
